Grant Nixon is a fourth generation Idaho native. He was raised in Bonners Ferry and Coeur d' Alene, and was influenced by his mother, who was a nationally known transparent watercolorist. He too is concentrating on the medium of transparent watercolor without using white, black or opaque paints. Putting watercolor on paper is an exciting and unpredictable adventure for Grant. It allows him to reveal the moods, colors and textures of the world around him while still capturing a sense of mystery and depth in his compositions. As an outdoor enthusiast, Idaho wildlife and scenery are important subjects.
